The Blank Page
There's something terrifying about a blank page. Not because it's empty, but because it could become anything. The weight of possibility is heavier than the weight of work.
I've started many things. Some of them became something. Most of them didn't. But the ones that failed taught me more about starting than the ones that succeeded.
Why we hesitate
We hesitate because we want the first step to be perfect. We want the foundation to be solid before we've even figured out what we're building. But that's not how it works.
The best way to start is badly. Write the terrible first draft. Ship the ugly first version. Make the awkward first attempt. You can fix it later — but only if it exists.
The myth of readiness
You will never feel ready. Readiness is a feeling that comes after you start, not before. The confidence you're waiting for is on the other side of action.
So here I am, starting this blog. Not because I'm ready, but because I've been not-ready for long enough.
